What does the internet of things — “smart” devices of every ilk — mean for banking? With the internet all around us, banking has the opportunity to “envelope” consumers with “smart” banking services and data. In this podcast, Miranda Hill, vice president and manager for digital innovation capabilities at Wells Fargo & Co., traces through what a day might be for a banking customer wrapped in the internet of things, and it is all-encompassing. Hill says Wells Fargo Labs is currently building a Google Glass application, as well as a host of internet of things skunk works. There is the potential for every banking task to be accomplished without using a single bank channel that exists today, Hill says. Or as the host says, “we have just had our minds blown.” Hear the entire interview below.
