Finovate is saying so long to Singapore. Financial innovation showcase Finovate has “postponed” (read: cancelled) its FinovateAsia event, previously scheduled for November 2014. The Finovate Group, which runs the event, previously held events in Asia, in 2012 and 2013. It says it will host an Asia event again in 2015. We take this “postponement” as yet another indicator that fintech startup activity in Asia is not as robust as the activity in the U.S. and Europe, Finovate’s other venues. FinovateAsia already was a bit of stepchild to Finovate’s other events. The Asia gathering was scheduled for just one day — November 14 — rather than the two days allocated for other Finovate events. However, like at other Finovate events, the Asia conference would have included seven-minute pitches to an audience renowned for its active and snark-filled tweeting. The 2013 Asia event brought in “over 300″ attendees and 36 presenting companies, according to the event site, which also listed six sponsors and 11 partners.
