Quick quiz: How many people showed up for the “Crowdfunding Day” event in Paris last Saturday? 100 500 1,000 1,500 “I have no idea” / “Leave me alone” For all of you who answered E — well, I have no hope for you. The correct answer is D, 1,500. One of those 1,500 was even Arnaud Montebourg, France’s Minister of Economy. To me, the strong showing for the event (officially called La Fete Du Crowd Funding), which included 30 demos of crowdfunding platforms, including Babyloan, deserves notice. Even in France, crowdfunding is finding more than a few fans. Check out the crowdfunding demo companies here. There was a purpose to the event, however. It was summarized as follows: The President of the Association Funding Participatory France and conference moderator, Nicolas Lesur, and many speakers stressed their common desire to support crowdfunding. so that it self-regulates. The goal is to create confidence and prevent, as far as possible, an incident that could discredit the movement, whether through lack of skill or dishonesty. And that’s the true key point here. There is promise in crowdfunding, but there is also uncertainty. In Paris, at least, that promise was on full display.
