Moven sent an email to its beta testers yesterday announcing that its username and password feature, currently only available online, would soon be available for mobile. This will give mobile users more options for logging in, which currently relies on Facebook for mobile users. The utimate goal for Moven will be mobile account origination, which is in the development pipeline according to president Alex Sion. Moven is billed as a mobile-first account, so moves like this are crucial to the service. Moven works with a small team — just four engineers, according to Amit Gulati, who spoke at a recent fintech meetup in New York. Compare this to Simple’s 40 engineers and the hundreds at larger tech vendors, and Moven’s accomplishments look even more impressive. The email also announced some upcoming features and enhancements to the service. The email was sent not from Moven itself but from founder Brett King. It carried the subject line, “An update from Moven.” The features presented as coming soon are Pay a Friend, Moven’s P2P service that will also allow Facebook payments, and Move Money, an easier way to move money in and out of one’s account.
